　　描述一门你感兴趣的科学科目

　　During my four years' college study, I hada whole variety of science subjects since my major was closely related toscience. I used to choose some elective courses, one of which is exactly what Iwas partial to. Well, in fact, it was not a common one at that time, and accordinglyonly fewer than 10 students chose it. Well, it's called mapping engineering.

　　在我四年的大学生涯里，我上过各种科学科目，因为我的专业是与科学紧密相关的。我过去常常选一些选修课，其中一个就是我所偏爱的。事实上，那个时候这不是一门普通的科目，所以不到十个学生选择这门课，那就是绘图工程。

　　Extremely young as I was during mychildhood, I started to be fascinated about reading maps, and the truth is whenI arrived in a new city, the first thing I needed to do was buying a map. Afterreading the map, I could know something about the city. And after travelingthere, the map became my collection. I have been to over 50 cities, andaccordingly I have collected more than 50 maps.

　　尽管童年时我很小，但那时候我就开始对看地图爱不释手,事实是当我到达一座新城市时，我要做的第一件事情就是买地图。看过地图后，我能知道一些关于这座城市的事儿。当我到达后，地图就成了我的收集品。我去过五十多个城市，因此我收集过五十多张地图。

　　Having entering university, I luckily got achance to select a course like this. Our lecturer, who was actually atechnician from a mapping institute, briefly introduced how to use sometraditional equipment to draw maps, and he put all emphasis on how to use GPS to make a map. GPS, as you know, means global positioning system, and it is asystem relying on at least 24 GPS satellites. Those satellites offerpositioning information twenty-four and seven (无时无刻) to whoeverneeds it.

　　上大学了以后，很幸运我选择了这门课。我的老师事实上是一名绘图机构的技术员，他大致介绍了如何用传统仪器来画地图，而且他强调了如何用GPS来制作地图。你知道，GPS是全球定位系统，而且这个系统依托于至少24个卫星。那些卫星无时无刻地提供者定位信息给有需要的人们。

　　The chip in GPS information-receivingdevices can calculate where people are and how fast they move. With the advancementof related technology, nowadays technicians can draw maps much more efficientlythan before. Although this subject is not something relevant to what I majoredin, I'm still a fan of it.
