Some people say that the best way to let children know the danger of crimes is for them to be educated by those who were once in prison but now have become good citizens.
Do you agree or disagree?
Introduction
It is an excellent idea that young people have the opportunity to understand the legal system and criminality from former prisoners. It would offer the chance to interact with individuals they would not have dreamed of conversing with, however it must be conducted in a safe and secure setting.
Body
Youth ought to be instructed on having a high sense of morality in their lives in order to promote positive development, although this education need not only occur through traditional or formal methods. By having ex-convicts discuss their experiences with them, it can dispense valuable lessons from a first-hand perspective and be more meaningful. Instead of teachers and parents distributing this knowledge, it would deter criminal activity more if youngsters could hear stories directly from felons.
Nevertheless, there are certain risks associated with allowing ex-cons to teach children as they might not be able to control themselves when speaking. In this way, children may also pick up negative behaviours from them, such as swearing or even get ideas about how to commit crimes. Even though it could be argued that the complete rehabilitation of a criminal is rare, the lessons must be set up whereby there are no possible risks facing the children, including through online classes or with the presence of a police officer.
Conclusion
All in all, although ex-convicts have committed crimes and thwarted the laws of society, their experiences can be used for beneficial purposes to favorably assist their fellow citizens. If they are truly remorseful for their crimes, giving back to the community would be a useful and advantageous way to improve the general well-being of their neighbourhoods.
